Lebanon, OR – Lani Lill, 53, of Sweet Home, was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday evening outside Lebanon, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
The incident took place at approximately 6:37 p.m. on November 29, 2025, near the 32200 block of Bellinger Scale Road. Deputies were dispatched following a 911 call reporting that a motorcycle had crashed into a yard near a residence along the roadway.
According to investigators, Lill had been traveling along Bellinger Scale Road on a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a corner. The motorcycle left the roadway, continued roughly 190 feet into a ditch, and struck a small tree in the caller's yard. Lill was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash and was located in nearby bushes.
Emergency medical personnel from the Lebanon Fire District responded and attempted to assist; however, Lill was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies reported that speed and alcohol appear to have been contributing factors in the crash. No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office, the Lebanon Fire District, and the Linn County Medical Examiner's Office all responded to the scene and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. No arrests were made, and the investigation remains active.
The official cause of the crash has not been fully confirmed, though early findings suggest that excessive speed and possible impairment were likely contributors. Authorities will continue reviewing evidence to determine the final cause.
The crash temporarily affected traffic in the immediate area as emergency crews worked and the scene was cleared. Roadway access was restored once investigators completed their on-scene work.
Motorcycle Fatalities in Oregon
Motorcycle fatalities continue to be a significant safety concern in Oregon. According to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), motorcycle riders accounted for nearly 15% of all traffic deaths in the state in recent years, despite representing a small portion of total road users.
Linn County has also reported increasing motorcycle-related injuries and deaths. State crash data shows that rural roadways—such as those around Lebanon and Sweet Home—are consistently overrepresented in serious motorcycle crashes due to curves, higher speeds, and limited lighting.
