Baker County, OR – The Oregon State Police has identified the victim killed on a Saturday night rear-end collision on Interstate 84 in Baker County as John Carl Allyn, 85, of Baker City.
The incident occurred at around 10:52 p.m. on April 5 on Interstate 84 near milepost 345.
Reports revealed that an eastbound Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Allyn was stopped for unknown reasons in the slow lane when it was rear-ended by an eastbound Volvo commercial motor vehicle and trailer operated by 36-year-old Anatolii Gulei of Vancouver (WA).
Allyn was transported by LifeFlight to an area hospital, where he later died.
Gulei sustained no injuries in the wreck.
The roadway was impacted for approximately six hours during the on-scene investigation.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
