Investigations revealed that Tomas M. Blas Morales, 22, of The Dalles, was driving a 2023 Toyota Camry heading west on eastbound I-84 when he collided head-on with a 2011 Nissan Altima that was driven by Juan Viveros, 46, of Yakima, Washington.

The Dalles, OR – Authorities are investigating a suspected DUI accident that severely injured one motorist and led to the arrest of another in The Dalles on Monday night.
According to a report by the Oregon State Police, the collision occurred on Interstate 84 near Exit 83 just before 10:49 p.m. on July 6.
Investigations revealed that Tomas M. Blas Morales, 22, of The Dalles, was driving a 2023 Toyota Camry heading west on eastbound I-84 when he collided head-on with a 2011 Nissan Altima that was driven by Juan Viveros, 46, of Yakima, Washington.
The impact of the crash caused one of the vehicles to become airbone and it slammed into the trailer of a 2022 Peterbilt semi-truck operated by Omar Jabbaar Hakeem, 63, of McMinnville.
Viveros was seriously injured in the incident. He was extricated from his vehicle by firefighters and airlifted to a Portland-area hospital for treatment.
Morales was arrested and booked on multiple charges, including reckless driving, reckless endangering, second-degree assault, and driving under the influence of intoxicating substances.
The OSP was assisted at the scene by The Dalles Police Department, the Oregon Department of Transportation, and the Wasco County Sherriff’s Office.
The accident caused a temporary closure of a section of I-84 while authorities worked to clear the scene. The OSP is still investigating the incident.
