Folsom, CA – A person was killed in a major collision that occurred at a light rail station in Folsom on Thursday afternoon, according to the Folsom Police Department
The incident was reported at around 2:50 p.m. January 22, at the station in the area of Folsom Boulevard and Iron Point Road.
According to the authorities, a vehicle hit a pedestrian and crashed into the light rail platform. The vehicle overturned and came to a rest on the train tracks.
The Folsom police, Folsom Fire Department, and officials from the Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) responded to the site of the accident.
The pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene by the medics. The driver of the involved vehicle was transported to UC Davis Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
Light rail service between the Sunrise and Historic Folsom stations were halted as authorities evaluated and cleared the scene.
