The fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:44 p.m. on June 5, 2026, on Highway 97 near milepost 113 in Deschutes County.
Preliminary investigation findings indicate a gray Nissan Titan, driven by 64-year-old Thomas Dwayne Dooms of Redmond, was traveling northbound on Highway 97 when it attempted to make a left turn into the Peter Skene Ogden Rest Area and failed to yield to southbound traffic.
