Union County, OR — A 56-year-old Arizona man was killed and three other people were injured in a rear-end collision on Interstate 84 in Union County Sunday morning, according to the Oregon State Police.

According to the preliminary investigation, a white 2016 Ram 3500 pickup towing a utility trailer was traveling westbound on I-84 when it rear-ended a slow-moving white 2017 Volvo semi-truck towing a flatbed trailer loaded with spools of cable.
The Ram driver, identified as 56-year-old Scott Ray McClinton of Prescott Valley, Arizona, was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other occupants of the pickup suffered minor to serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital. The Volvo driver, 42-year-old Abdul Sami Saleh of Rosenberg, Texas, was not injured.
Oregon State Police responded to the scene and were assisted by La Grande Fire and Rescue, La Grande Rural Fire Department, and the Oregon Department of Transportation during the investigation.
The crash affected Interstate 84 for approximately five hours while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.
The collision remains under investigation. No information regarding arrests or impairment was provided.
