Wasco County, OR — A 21-year-old Dufur man was killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle head-on crash on Highway 197 in Wasco County Saturday afternoon, according to the Oregon State Police.

The fatal collision occurred at about 4:11 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026, on Highway 197 near milepost 8.

According to the preliminary investigation, 21-year-old Cameron Michael Bostick of Dufur was driving a gray Ford Fusion southbound on 197 when, for some reason, he entered the northbound lane and collided head-on with a Ram 2500 pickup traveling northbound.

Bostick was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Ram driver, 35-year-old Breann Alyse Young of The Dalles, was transported by Life Flight to an area hospital with serious injuries. A 4-year-old girl who was riding in the Ram suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Oregon State Police responded to the scene and were assisted by the Wasco County Sheriff’s Office, Dufur Volunteer Fire and EMS, U.S. Forest Service law enforcement, U.S. Forest Service Wildland Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The crash impacted Highway 197 for approximately three hours while authorities conducted their on-scene investigation.

The fatal crash remains under investigation by the Oregon State Police.
