Adelanto, California (September 25, 2023) – The name of a 6th-grade child who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Adelanto Monday morning has been released.
Aiden Ortiz, a 6th-grader who attended Melva Davis Academy of Excellence, was hit by a vehicle near a bus stop on Seneca Road. Ortiz sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are investigating a pedestrian crash that claimed the life of a child in Adelanto Monday morning, according to San Bernardino County Fire.
The accident happened at around 7:10 a.m. at a bus stop on Seneca Road between Jonathan Street and Delicious Street.
Witnesses told a local news source that the child is a 6th-grade Student at Melva Davis Academy.
The name of the child was not immediately released, pending notification of next of kin.
No additional information regarding the crash was provided.
The Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) from Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station is at the scene investigating the incident.
