Two women, aged 18 and 19, were riding on a scooter when they were hit by a silver 2011 Kia Optima

Hesperia, CA.- Two women on a scooter were struck and injured by a vehicle in Hesperia on Saturday night, according to the authorities.
The incident took place in the 11800 block of Pinon Avenue at around 7:25 p.m. September 20.
Two women, aged 18 and 19, were riding on a scooter when they were hit by a silver 2011 Kia Optima.
One of the riders suffered critical injuries and was taken to Desert Valley Hospital.
The victim was later flown to an out-of-area trauma center for further treatment.
The second woman was transported by ground ambulance with unspecified injuries.
The driver of the Kia reported that the victims were riding on a dark section of the road and were both wearing dark clothing.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
