Phoenix, AZ.- One person was killed in a multi-car accident in Phoenix early Sunday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The accident took place near 7th Avenue and Thomas Road at around 4:30 a.m.

According to investigators, a driver was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Thomas Road when he ran a red light and collided with vehicle heading north on 7th Avenue.

The impact pushed the vehicles into a third car traveling south on 7th Avenue.

At least one person had to be extricated from one of the vehicles, which rolled over following the crash.

A woman was declared deceased at the site of the accident.

Three other parties were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver who ran the red light was suspected of impairment.

Authorities are investigating to establish the cause of the accident.
