Phoenix, AZ – Pedestrian Critically Injured in Crash Near 59th Avenue and McDowell Road

Phoenix, AZ – A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in the Maryvale neighborhood of Phoenix on Monday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The collision occurred shortly before 6 a.m. near the intersection of 59th Avenue and McDowell Road.

Investigators said the pedestrian was crossing the roadway mid-block, outside a marked crosswalk, when the vehicle struck them. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital and was listed in critical condition.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Detectives temporarily closed McDowell Road between 59th and 61st Avenues while investigating the crash. The roadway has since reopened.

The investigation remains ongoing.
