Phoenix, AZ. – Two people were taken to a hospital, including one with life-threatening injuries, after they were struck by a car Thursday evening in west Phoenix, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. near 27th Avenue and Glendale Avenue, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers responding to the scene found a woman and a man injured.

The woman was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The man sustained less severe injuries and is expected to recover, police said.

The Phoenix Police Department is leading the investigation.
