Yucaipa, CA – A motorcyclist was killed following a traffic collision at an intersection in Yucaipa late Friday morning, according to the Yucaipa Police Department.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Oak Glen Road and Chapman Heights Road at approximately 11:34 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, authorities confirmed.
Investigators determined that the collision involved a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. The motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Oak Glen Road when a vehicle heading westbound on the same roadway attempted to turn south onto Chapman Heights Road, crossing into the path of the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, identified as Wyatt Schaaf, a 24-year-old resident of Beaumont, suffered critical injuries in the crash. He was transported by ambulance to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead by medical personnel. The driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators. No arrests have been reported.
Authorities stated that the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is currently unclear whether speed played a role in the collision.
Deputies from the Yucaipa Police Department, along with firefighters from the Yucaipa Fire Department and paramedics with American Medical Response, responded to the scene and provided emergency medical care. The department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) later took over the investigation.
As a result of the collision, both eastbound and westbound lanes of Oak Glen Road were closed for several hours while investigators documented the scene and gathered evidence. The roadway was reopened to traffic at approximately 2:30 p.m.
