Riverside County, CA – One person was killed, and another was seriously injured following a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Beaumont on Friday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to CHP, a sport utility vehicle, operated by 75-year-old Nancy Harding of San Jacinto, was traveling northbound on SR-79 and was making a left turn onto California Avenue when it collided with a southbound motorcycle, operated by Jason Harris, 40, of Menifee.
The impact caused Harris to be ejected from the bike onto the dirt shoulder near the southwest corner of the crossing.
Harris was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
Harding was rushed to an area hospital with major injuries.
According to the CHP, neither alcohol nor drugs is suspected to have been a factor in the crash.
Officials from the California Highway Patrol responded to the incident, secured the scene, and coordinated with the Riverside County Coroner’s Office following the fatality.
The collision prompted temporary closures on SR-79, with southbound lanes shut during the investigation; one lane reopened after about 15 minutes, and the second reopened roughly 45 minutes later. California Avenue remained closed between 1st Street and SR-79 for approximately three hours, affecting local traffic flow.
The incident is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, and anyone with information related to the crash is encouraged to contact CHP.
