Humboldt County, California (September 12, 2023) – A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a vehicle on Tuesday morning in Fortuna.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on southbound Highway 101 near Palmer Boulevard at around 5:57 a.m.

A pedestrian was struck by a car on the highway in unclear circumstances.

The victim suffered a major injury to the left leg and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

More details about the accident were not released.

Authorities are investigating the accident as a possible hit-and-run.
