Mesa, AZ – A rollover collision involving a passenger van and another vehicle left one person dead and eight others injured Sunday morning in Mesa, according to the Arizona DPS.
The crash occurred on May 24, along State Route 24 near Signal Butte Road, and involved two vehicles, including a large passenger van carrying 10 occupants.
Investigators said the van overturned and came to rest on its roof on the roadway following the impact.
One occupant of the van suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead after the incident. Seven additional passengers were taken to area hospitals for treatment. The driver of the second vehicle was also transported for medical care.
Officials have not yet disclosed the identities of those involved, and the severity of the injuries sustained by the surviving victims has not been released.
The crash prompted the closure of State Route 24 in both directions between Signal Butte Road and Meridian Road while emergency crews cleared the scene and investigators gathered evidence.
