Deadly Ramona Pedestrian Crash Leaves One Dead, Another Seriously Injured

Ramona, CA. — Two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle late Saturday night in Ramona, leaving one dead and another seriously injured, authorities reported.

The crash occurred around 9:20 p.m. on westbound State Route 78, just west of Seventh Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The pedestrians were crossing in an area with low lighting when a Toyota driven by a 19-year-old Ramona man struck them.

One of them, a 35-year-old woman died at the scene, while the other, a 42-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with major injuries.

The driver and his passenger were not hurt.

CHP said alcohol or drugs may have been factors in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
