Berkeley, CA – A wheelchair rider was hit and injured by a train in Berkeley on Monday afternoon, according to the authorities.

The incident was reported at around 3:30 p.m. April 1, at the North Berkeley BART station.

The 62-year-old man on a wheelchair was hit by the train under unclear circumstances.

The pedestrian was extricated and was rushed to Highland Hospital with critical injuries.

The tracks were shut down in the area while authorities investigated the incident.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
