Victorville, CA – A man died in the hospital days after being involved in an auto-pedestrian collision earlier this month in Victorville.
According to the Victorville Police Department, the incident took place at about 12:26 a.m. March 7, on Palmdale Road and US 395.
Deputies responded just after receiving reports of the crash and learned that a man had been struck by a driver in a Toyota Prius.
The victim was rushed to Loma Linda University Medical Center with major injuries.
Authorities say the pedestrian was declared deceased at the hospital on March 13. He was identified by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office as Diego Ayala, 39, an Adelanto resident.
The Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation into the incident.
The involved driver was at the scene when the authorities arrived and was cooperative with the investigators. There no reports of any arrests in connection with the incident.
An investigation into the collision is still ongoing and further details are expected to be released.
