Vallejo, CA – A late Sunday night collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian at an intersection in Vallejo left a man dead, according to the Vallejo Police Department.
Shortly before 10:30 p.m. February 1, authorities were called to the scene of an auto-pedestrian accident near Broadway and Commercial Street.
Police found an injured and unresponsive pedestrian at the scene. The victim had reportedly been struck by a vehicle near the intersection under unclear circumstances.
Authorities performed life-saving measures before the victim was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. However, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The identities of the pedestrian and the involved driver were not immediately released. The driver remained at the site of the accident and is cooperating with the investigators.
Initial reports indicates that alcohol or drug impairement was not believed to have played any role in the incident.
Another vehicle is suspected to have been involved in the incident though it’s involvement has not been confirmed.
Authorities are yet to release additional information on the deadly accident. The Vallejo Police Department is still looking into the cause of the crash and anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact the VPD Traffic Division at (707) 648-4329.

Compared with 2022, when there were 2,905 killed or injured in collisions, the 2023 figures show similar high levels of traffic harm with persistent issues involving alcohol, speed, and nighttime driving. Solano County’s collision rates consistently highlight challenges with road safety, particularly for motorcyclists, pedestrians, and bicyclists, and underline the need for targeted safety interventions and enforcement.
