Commerce, CA – The Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner has identified a teenager killed in a Saturday night crash at an intersection in Commerce as 16-year-old Rodolfo Rodriguez III of Long Beach.
The accident happened at around 11:14 p.m. on February 22, at Eastern Avenue and Randolph Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports revealed that the CHP tried to pull over a motorist driving the wrong-way on the roadway when the driver failed to stop and the police ensued a pursuit.
The pursuit ended shortly after the suspect struck another vehicle.
Rodriguez III, who was seated at the beach, was struck by the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene.
A pedestrian walking inside a crosswalk was also hit by the car and suffered severe leg injuries.
Two people inside the suspect's vehicle suffered severe injuries and were taken to a hospital. The driver was treated at a hospital before being taken to a county jail.
No reports about the occupants in the second vehicle were available.
An investigation is ongoing.

Commerce, CA.- One person was killed and several others were injured in a crash that happened after a pursuit of a suspect in Commerce on Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Shortly after 11 p.m. on February 22, authorities spotted a driver traveling the wrong way in the area of Eastern and Florence Avenues and attempted to stop them.
The suspect failed to stop and fled the area, leading to a pursuit with the CHP troopers.
The pursuit ended shortly after when the suspect collided with a second vehicle at Randolph Street and Eastern Avenue.
The suspect also collided with a pedestrian in the crosswalk and crashed into a bus stop.
One person sitting in the bus stop was killed in the accident.
The pedestrian who was hit in the crosswalk was hospitalized with severe leg injuries.
Two other parties were treated for minor injuries.
The accident is under investigation.
