Long Beach, CA – A woman died after she was struck by a vehicle on December 27 in Long Beach, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
The Saturday evening crash was reported around 8:45 p.m. on West Pacific Coast Highway near Cedar Avenue.
Firefighters and paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene after receiving reports of the crash and found a woman unconscious in the roadway. The victim was offered medical aid at the scene and then transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
LAPD officers responded to the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation that revealed the woman was walking southbound in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a 2013 Ford Fusion traveling eastbound on PCH in the No. 1 lane.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Police do not believe impairment, speed or distracted driving played a role in the accident.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office will release the victim's identity upon notification of the next of kin.
