Two motorcycles were involved in the accident around 11:30 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near Grapevine Road.

According to authorities, Garcia and another motorcyclist were traveling southbound when an SUV in a different lane made a U-turn in front of them.

The riders crashed into the SUV.

Garcia was airlifted to Kern Medical with serious injuries. He later died while receiving treatment at the facility.

The other motorcyclist was taken by ground ambulance to the same hospital with moderate injuries.

Bakersfield, CA. – Two motorcyclists were hospitalized after being injured in a crash on Sunday morning in Bakersfield.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 11:30 a.m. on Interstate near Grapevine Road.

An SUV in a different lane attempted to make a U-turn in front of two motorcyclists traveling southbound in the fast lane and neither one could avoid the SUV, crashing into it.

One of the riders was flown to Kern Medical with major injuries.

The other motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to Kern Medical for treatment of moderate injuries.

More details about the accident were not released.
