Fresno County, CA. — Two adults were hospitalized after a semi-truck ran a stop sign and broadsided an SUV in rural Fresno County on Sunday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened just after 4:40 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 145 and Manning Avenue.
CHP investigators said the semi-truck was hauling a trailer traveling southbound at about 55 mph as it approached a stop sign on Highway 145.
At the same time, a GMC SUV was moving eastbound on Manning Avenue at about 5 mph, with the right of way.
For reasons still under investigation, the semi failed to stop and struck the left side of the GMC.
The driver and front passenger of the SUV were transported to a nearby hospital with complaints of pain.
Two children under the age of 10 who were riding in the back seat were not injured.
CHP reported that the semi-truck driver was unhurt and not suspected of driving under the influence.
The investigation into why the truck failed to stop remains ongoing.
