Fresno County, CA – One person was killed following a two-vehicle collision on Academy Avenue in Selma Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 7:36 a.m. near the intersection of South Academy Avenue and East Dinuba Avenue.
Preliminary investigation indicated that a white GMC pickup truck collided with a silver older-model sedan. CHP reports noted that both vehicles came to rest on the right-hand side of the roadway following the crash. Authorities also reported debris, including a bumper and vehicle parts, scattered across all lanes. One person was reportedly trapped inside a gray Toyota Corolla after the collision.
At least one person suffered fatal injuries in the collision. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin. Information regarding additional injuries was not immediately available. No arrests were reported.
California Highway Patrol officers and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene to assist victims and investigate the collision. Tow crews were also called to remove the damaged vehicles from the roadway.
The crash caused traffic disruptions along Academy Avenue as emergency crews worked to clear debris and conduct the on-scene investigation.
