The incident was reported at around 3:40 a.m. on Interstate 405 near Imperial Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A preliminary investigation revealed a motorist heading northbound in southbound lanes of I-405 caused a head-on collision. CHP said a total of three vehicles were involved in the accident.
According to CHP, two people were injured and were transported to the hospital in unknown condition.
