According to California Highway Patrol logs, the incident was reported around 5:40 p.m. on Avenue 95 near Road 238.
Tulare County, CA –Â The authorities have identified a girl who was hit and killed by a vehicle while crossing the street in Terra Bella on Monday evening.
The deceased girl was identified as 12-year-old Janessa Gonzalez of Terra Bella.
Gonzalez, who would have turned 13 on September 10, 2026, was hit while trying to cross Avenue 95 near Road 238 at about 5:40 p.m. on August 31, 2026.
She suffered major injuries and was transported to Sierra View Medical Center, where she died.
CHP said the involved driver, identified as Anthony Chavez-Valencia, 22, from Porterville, was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.

Tulare County, CA – A pedestrian sustained major injuries after being struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon near an intersection in Terra Bella.
According to California Highway Patrol logs, the incident was reported around 5:40 p.m. on Avenue 95 near Road 238.
Details about the manner of the crash, or the pedestrian’s age and gender, were not available.
The victim was taken to the hospital with major injuries.
