Klamath County, OR – One person was killed, and others suffered injuries in a two-vehicle head-on collision on Highway 97 in Klamath County, according to the Oregon State Police.
The crash occurred on Highway 97 near milepost 255 at approximately 6:40 p.m. on December 16, 2025. The Oregon State Police responded to reports of a serious collision between two vehicles.
Preliminary investigation by the Oregon State Police indicates that 37-year-old Gordon Travis Gilmer of Sacramento, CA, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 southbound when, for some reason, the vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and struck a Toyota Hilux head-on that was being operated northbound by 26-year-old Triston Charles Morrow of Chiloquin.
Triston Morrow suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
Gordon Gilmer and his passenger, 28-year-old Christian Octavio Rodriguez of Rosamond, CA, sustained minor injuries in the crash.
At this time, the specific cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Oregon State Police, with officials continuing to examine factors that may have contributed to the Silverado losing control and entering the opposite lane.
First responders, including Oregon State Police, assisted by Chiloquin Fire and Oregon Department of Transportation personnel, secured the scene and conducted on-scene investigation activities, providing emergency medical support and traffic control.
