Stockton, CA – A person was killed and another injured when a driver lost control and caused a two-vehicle collision in Stockton on Friday afternoon.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the wreck took place at around 3:17 p.m. March 27, on SR 26, west of Avalon Drive.
Investigations reveal that a driver in a 2006 Toyota Scion was traveling east on SR 26 when he lost control and drifted onto the gravel shoulder. The driver then moved back into the roadway and collided with a 2002 GMC.
After the crash, the driver of the Toyota was pinned inside the vehicle, which burst into flames.
CHP and emergency personnel arrived shortly after and helped the involved parties.
Paramedics transported the Toyota driver to San Joaquin Medical, where he was declared deceased. His name was not released pending notification of family.
The driver of the GMC, who also was not immediately identified, was treated for minor injuries.
It’s unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident.
The California Highway Patrol is handling an ongoing investigation into the incident.
