Phoenix, AZ. — A teenager was hospitalized with serious injuries Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle in north Phoenix, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The collision occurred shortly before 5 p.m. near Cactus Road and 19th Avenue, where officers arrived to find the teen with life-threatening injuries.
The teenage boy was hospitalized in serious condition.
Police said the driver initially stopped but ran from the scene as officers arrived.
After a brief foot chase, officers detained the individual. The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and is currently being processed on suspicion of DUI, officials said.
Detectives closed roads in the area while investigating.
