Jamey Dotts ID’d as One of Two Killed in Chewelah Car Crash on Highway 395

Chewelah, WA – One of the two people who were killed in a crash involving a big rig early Tuesday morning near Chewelah has been identified by the Washington State Patrol.

Jamey Dotts, 55, of Kettle, died following the wreck that took place at around 5:15 a.m. July 28, on Highway 395 near Bluecreek.

According to WSP, a Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling northbound on Highway 395 when it moved across the centerline and crashed head-on with an oncoming Sunshine Disposal garbage truck. After the crash, the garbage truck rolled onto the northbound shoulder while the Cruiser flipped and landed in the southbound ditch.

A person who witnessed the accident reportedly put out a small fire that was sparked by the collision.

Dotts was among the two occupants of the Cruiser. Both occupants died in the crash and authorities did not confirm who was driving the vehicle. The second victim was only identified a 47-year-old woman from Springdale.

The driver of the garbage truck, a 34-year-old man from Chewelah, was not injured in the accident.

No further details were immediately available and the Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
