Tiger Mountain, WA – A man was killed in a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle near Tiger Mountain on Wednesday evening, according to a report by the Washington State Patrol.

The incident took place at around 5:43 p.m. June 16, on State Route 18, just east of Raging River.

According to preliminary reports, Ashton A. Sawyer, 19, of Covington, was riding his Aprilia RSV4 motorcycle on SR 28 when he crashed into the back of a Volvo semi-truck.

Authorities reported that Sawyer was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. He was confirmed deceased at the scene.

The operator of the big rig was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. The driver’s identity was not released by the authorities.

The crash caused the closure of the highway for over two hours as authorities worked to clear the scene.

Whether alcohol or drugs played any role in the accident was yet to be confirmed. The WSP is handling an ongoing investigation into the incident.
