Long Beach, CA – A male scooter rider was killed after colliding with a vehicle in Long Beach early Saturday morning, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The deadly accident happened at around 3:20 a.m. on August 30 at the intersection of E. 7th Street and Federation Drive, near Recreation Park.
Preliminary investigations revealed a man was riding a scooter southbound on Seventh Street outside a marked crosswalk when he was hit by an eastbound 2016 Hyundai Accent driven by a 28-year-old Laguna Beach Resident.
Paramedics responded to the scene and rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His name has not been released.
The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative.
At the time of reporting, investigations were ongoing but authorities ruled out speed, distracted and impaired driving as a factor in the deadly accident.
