Los Altos, CA – A 31-year-old Long Beach man died after he collided with a pickup truck while riding a scooter Monday morning at an intersection in Los Altos.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the accident was reported around 10 a.m. on August 10, 2026, at Walton Street and Stanbridge Avenue.

Police officers said the Long Beach man was riding a scooter when he turned onto Walton from Stanbridge and drifted into oncoming traffic. The rider struck a 2024 Toyota Tundra pickup truck traveling eastbound on Walton.

Long Beach police officers and firefighters responded to the scene.

The rider was pronounced dead at the scene after failed resuscitation.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 42-year-old Long Beach resident, told authorities that they saw the scooter rider approaching and had started to slow down when the crash happened.

Police officers do not believe speed, distracted driving, or intoxication played a role.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
