Santa Monica, CA – A 39-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a Metro bus near the Santa Monica Pier on Friday afternoon, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Police said a westbound Metro Line 33 bus was pulling away from a bus stop when it struck the pedestrian.
Preliminary reports indicated that the woman was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision and that she positioned herself beneath the bus as it was leaving the stop.
The woman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities described the victim as a 39-year-old woman, but her name has not yet been publicly released. No other injuries were reported, and no arrests were announced in connection with the incident.
