San Diego, CA – Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Interstate 15 near Camino del Norte

The California Highway Patrol reported that a motorcycle collided with a Ford Ranger at approximately 12:37 a.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 15 near the Camino del Norte off-ramp.

San Diego, CA – One person was killed in a motorcycle collision on Interstate 15 in San Diego early Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a motorcycle collided with a Ford Ranger at approximately 12:37 a.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 15 near the Camino del Norte off-ramp.

Reportedly, first responders found the motorcyclist down in the fast lane following the impact. A witness told the authorities that the motorcycle had struck the rear of a black Ford Ranger.

The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin. Information regarding additional injuries was not immediately available, and no arrests were reported.

California Highway Patrol officers, emergency crews, Caltrans personnel, and tow crews responded to the scene to assist with the investigation and roadway closure. Authorities also requested an evidence tow as part of the investigation.

The collision caused major traffic disruptions along southbound Interstate 15, prompting a hard closure of lanes 1 through 4 near Bernardo Center Drive. All lanes were temporarily stopped before authorities gradually reopened the freeway. CHP officials reported that all lanes reopened at approximately 2:16 a.m.

The exact cause of the fatal motorcycle crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
