Riverside, CA – Two juveniles were seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on State Route 91 in Riverside early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at approximately 4:28 a.m. Tuesday on eastbound State Route 91 west of Buchanan Street.
Preliminary reports indicate the crash involved three vehicles, including a black sedan and a red semi-truck. Authorities said the sedan left the freeway following the collision and came to rest off the roadway. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle smoking after the crash. CHP later confirmed that three vehicles were involved in the collision.
Two juveniles suffered major injuries and required emergency medical attention. The identities of the injured juveniles have not been released.
Ontario Fire Department personnel and other emergency responders were dispatched to the scene to assist the injured victims. CHP officers also responded and coordinated the investigation, while tow crews were called to remove the damaged vehicles, including the semi-truck.
The crash remains under investigation.
