Riverside, CA. – Three people were hospitalized Tuesday afternoon following a six-vehicle crash on the westbound Riverside (91) Freeway near Central Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 1:38 p.m. and involved an SUV, a pickup truck, and four sedans in the slow lane and exit ramp area.
The collision caused a chain reaction that left several vehicles damaged and blocking traffic leading to the busy Central Avenue off-ramp.
Riverside Fire Department crews responded to the scene within minutes.
Paramedics treated three people at the scene before transporting them to Riverside Community Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
CHP officers shut down the slow lane and off-ramp, issuing a Sigalert around 2:00 p.m.
The closure caused significant traffic delays through the downtown corridor.
