Portland, OR – Authorities have identified the man who died following a collision involving an electric motorcycle and a Jeep Wrangler on Northeast Halsey Street in Portland earlier this week.
The victim was identified as 40-year-old Jered W. Nelson of Portland. Officials said his family has been notified.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:34 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, near the intersection of Northeast Halsey Street and Northeast 111th Avenue.
According to investigators, the driver of a Jeep Wrangler was traveling eastbound on Northeast Halsey Street and attempting to turn into a parking lot when Nelson, who was operating an electric motorcycle, struck the passenger side of the Jeep.
Authorities initially described the vehicle as an electric bicycle but later clarified it was an electric motorcycle.
Nelson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, officials said. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said there is currently no indication the Jeep driver was impaired.
