According to PCSD, a driver failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection and collided with Duran, who was riding an e-bike in the area.
Pima County, AZ – A bicycle rider died days after being involved in a collision with a vehicle in Pima County on Sunday, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
63-year-old Vincent Duran, was the victim of the collision that took place on South Palo Verde Road and East 44th Street on September 20.
According to PCSD, a driver failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection and collided with Duran, who was riding an e-bike in the area.
Duran was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased on September 22.
The other driver, identified as Maya Ortiz, 33, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and causing serious bodily injury or death from a moving violation.
According to investigators, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs was not suspected to have played a role in the incident.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the deadly crash.
