75-Year-Old Man Dies at Hospital after Woodside Bicycle Crash on Portola Rd

Woodside, CA – A 75-year-old man died Monday, more than a week after he was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle on Portola Road in Woodside, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The accident occurred around 12:15 p.m. on May 1 in the 1400 block of Portola Road near Family Farm Road.

Sheriff’s deputies and emergency personnel responded to the area after they received a 911 call about a collision involving a bicyclist.

The responders found the 75-year-old man unconscious and seriously injured. The man was riding a bicycle in the area when he collided with a car under unclear circumstances.

Paramedics transported the rider to the hospital for treatment. The man later died on Monday, ten days after the crash, the sheriff’s department reported. His name was not immediately released.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Authorities said drugs and alcohol did not appear to be contributing factors.
