Phoenix, AZ – Authorities have released the identity of a man who was killed in an auto-pedestrian crash that took place in north Phoenix on Monday evening.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, the crash was reported shortly before 9 p.m. June 22, near 39th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a 2015 Dodge Journey was heading east on Thunderbird Road when it crashed into a pedestrian who was walking across the road. Authorities reported that the victim was crossing the street mid-block when the incident happened.

Police and the Phoenix Fire Department personnel responded to the site of the accident and attended to the pedestrian, who was in critical condition.

The pedestrian was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared deceased. Phoenix police identified the victim as Santiago Bernardo Ramirez, 67.

The driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.

Investigators reported that impairment and speed were not believed to have played any role in the incident and no charges are expected.

The Phoenix Police Department is still investigating the circumstances of the accident.
