Phillip Kinstrand Killed in Highway 201 Crash in Malheur County

Malheur County, OR– Phillip Kinstrand, 70, of Vale, was killed in a big rig accident in Malheur County on Tuesday morning, according to the Oregon State Police.

The incident took place on Highway 201 near milepost 17 shortly after 11:15 a.m. Tuesday 4.

According to OSP, Kinstrand was driving a Pontiac G5 northbound on Highway 201 when he drifted into the southbound side and collided with the trailer of a Freightliner.

Kinstrand was declared deceased at the scene of the crash.

A passenger in the Pontiac, Kayla Harlan, 35, of Ontario, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The operator of the big rig, Zachary Piper, 46, of Fruitland, Idaho, was unhurt.

Authorities shut down the highway for at least two hours for the investigations.

The crash remained under investigation.
