Pedro Valencia-Perez Killed in Hesperia Accident on Mariposa Road near Mesquite Street

Hesperia, Calif.- Pedro Valencia-Perez, 58, of Barstow, was one of three people killed in a collision with a suspected DUI motorist in Hesperia Tuesday afternoon, according to the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station.

The wreck occurred on Mariposa Road near Mesquite Street at about 3:42 p.m. on February 20.

According to the authorities, Pavlo Padilla, 45, of Victorville, was behind the wheel of a black 2016 Chevrolet Suburban traveling northbound on Mariposa Road when he went into the path of oncoming vehicles and crashed head-on with a southbound blue 2005 Toyota Corolla.

Pedro Valencia-Perez was identified as the driver of the Toyota. Authorities said  Pedro Valencia-Perez and one of his passengers, Jose Valencia-Saucedo, 22, of Barstow, were both killed in the accident.

Another passenger, identified as Rosa Saucedo-Negrete, 59, of Barstow, was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.

A third passenger in the Toyota, identified as Francisco Valencia-Saucedo, 21, of Barstow, was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

Pavlo Padilla was treated for serious injuries and was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI causing injury or death, and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

The crash is under investigation.
