Long Beach, CA. – A pedestrian died in a hit-and-run crash Friday afternoon in Long Beach, and the suspected driver was later arrested and booked into jail.
The incident was reported at about 12:16 p.m. at Long Beach Boulevard and 68th Street.
A 2018 Chevrolet Camaro traveling southbound on Long Beach Boulevard in the far-right lane struck a woman in the crosswalk at 68th Street and fled the scene, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department transported the victim to the hospital, where she later died.
Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.
The driver, later identified as Eric Dewayne Moody, was located about 40 minutes after the crash and taken into custody. He was booked at the Long Beach City Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
Police said it is not yet known whether drugs, alcohol, or speed were contributing factors.
The LBPD's Collision Investigation Team is handling the investigation.
