Orange County, CA – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at an Orange County intersection on Monday evening, the Fountain Valley Police Department reported.
The crash happened at around 7:30 p.m. January 19, on Warner Avenue and Newhope Street.
A vehicle driven by a suspected DUI driver reportedly hit a pedestrian near the intersection. Authorities are still trying to establish the circumstances of the crash.
The Fountain Valley Police Department officers and firefighters responded to the site of the accident.
The pedestrian was killed in the collision. The identity of the deceased pedestrian was not released pending notification of the next-of-kin.
Police reported that driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the incident. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
