Los Angeles, CA – One person was killed after two vehicles collided on Interstate 10 in Los Angeles early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred on westbound I-10 just east of Cesar Chavez Avenue at about 4:29 a.m., prompting a major emergency response and significant traffic disruptions.
According to CHP logs, two dark-colored sedans were involved. One vehicle was reported to be facing the wrong way and blocking the slow lanes, while another was smoking near the connector road to northbound U.S. 101.
CHP confirmed that one person was killed in the accident. The name of the victim was not immediately released. A coroner responded to the scene a little after 6:00 a.m.
Several lanes were shut down as officials worked the scene, including hard closures of lanes 2 and 3. A SigAlert was issued for approximately 90 minutes, and traffic was held westbound just east of the Cesar Chavez overcrossing.
The incident remains under investigation.
