Ofelia Suarez Injured in Santa Barbara Crash on Highway 154
Santa Barbara, California (August 21, 2023) – Ofelia Vargas Suarez, 61, of Oxnard, was among five people hospitalized after a deadly car accident in Santa Barbara on Saturday morning, authorities said.
The incident happened at about 1:54 a.m. August 19, on Highway 154, west of San Antonio Creek Road.
The accident happened when a 2016 Infiniti QX60 was eastbound on Highway 154 and collided with a westbound 2020 Nissan Altima that went across the double yellow lines.
The driver of the Nissan was a 22-year-old man from South Jacksonville, Florida, who died in the accident.
The driver of the Infiniti and his four passengers, among them Suarez, were all taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of moderate to major injuries.
An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is ongoing.
