Oceanside, CA – The pedestrian who was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Oceanside Friday night has been identified, according to authorities.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner identified the deceased as 57-year-old Cresencio Molano Canseco of Oceanside.
The fatal crash occurred in the 600 block of Douglas Drive near Rainier Way at about 10:02 p.m. on April 10, 2026, according to police.
Preliminary investigation findings indicate that Molano Canseco was attempting to cross Douglas Drive north of Rainier Way outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a northbound sedan driven by a 28-year-old man. The driver was traveling through the area on a green traffic signal at the time of the collision.
Molano Canseco sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 10:24 p.m. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No arrests have been reported.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, though authorities stated that drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been factors.
Emergency responders, including Oceanside police officers and paramedics, arrived at the scene and attempted life-saving measures before the victim was pronounced deceased.
The crash led to disruptions in the area as authorities conducted their on-scene investigation.
The incident remains under investigation by the Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team.
