Oakland, CA – Authorities are investigating a deadly head-on collision that occurred early this morning on the 580 Freeway in Oakland.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck happened at around 2:34 a.m. on the westbound Interstate 580 just east of Lakeshore Avenue.
One person was killed following the collision.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.
Both vehicles were towed away from the crash site.
A SigAlert was issued, closing the freeway for several hours during the on-site investigation.
